BREAKING: Police on scene of multiple collisions

Bernalillo County News Comments Off

Snowy weather is continuing to wreak havoc in the Metro area.

Northbound Interstate 25 has been closed at the Tramway exit at this hour while deputies in Sandoval County investigate a fatal collision between a car and semi tractor trailer.

According to Sandoval County sheriff’s deputies, at about 6:30 p.m., a vehicle headed northbound on I-25 between Algodones and the town of Bernalillo slid out of control across the median and hit the side of the semi. One person died at the scene, according to Undersheriff Tim Lucero.

Meanwhile, Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies just finished cleaning up the aftermath of two jack-knifed semis in Tijeras Canyon on Interstate 40. No one was injured in the two separate incidents.

Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White said a few minutes ago he anticipated that I-40 will be closed at the canyon by the end of the evening.

“At this pace I will be very surprised if we go through the night without at shutting it down,” he said.

State police have also issued an advisory discouraging anyone from traveling on Interstate 40 between Grants and Gallup and from Edgewood to Tucumcari
