The Human Response Network is accepting applications for its $500 annual scholarship until May 14. The scholarship is offered to high school seniors, continuing education and re-entry students who are pursuing a career in early childhood education or social services.

Select wines and one-of-a-kind works by more than 60 artists will be up for bid Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, during the KIXE Invitational Art and Wine Auction.
The two-night auction will be broadcast live on Channel 9 beginning at 7 p m. Viewers will have the opportunity to purchase items and support quality public television in the North State.

Mountain Mojo Blues Band will be back working its magic at Johnsons’ Steakhouse from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 16.
The group will bring you old blues, blues standards, new blues and original material, in no particular order.

Allison Scull and Victor Martin will perform an all-original set at 8 p m. Friday, April 16, at Mamma Llama in downtown Weaverville. Tickets are $10 presale, $12 at door.
Their jazz-folk sound includes Allison on guitar and vocals, and Victor on saxophone.

Weaverville Elementary School will present “Willy Wonka Junior,” a musical based on Roald Dahl’s book, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 15-17, at the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center.

San Francisco metal band Cormorant will headline the first Lee Fong Benefit Music Festival and Raffle on Saturday, April 17, at Lee Fong Park Amphitheater in Weaverville.
Also playing will be Souls Torn, Ghrimous, Bonded and the Kasey Kelly Project, providing a variety of music.

The Commission on Judicial Performance issued a public admonishment of Trinity County Superior Court Judge Anthony Edwards, alleging that he created an appearance of bias on a number of occasions, including one in which he acted on a matter he was disqualified in and hugged the defendant in open court.
